If you have an accident overseas and become liable for damages, compensation and legal expenses, the cost for yourself and your family can be high.

Whether it’s damage to property, or you are responsible for the injury of another person, we provide cover for up to $1,000,000 for eligible claims under the personal liability section of our policy.

Important conditions

  • If the unexpected happens and you feel that you might be liable, it’s important that you do not admit fault or liability to any other person without our written consent first.
  • Legal liability must be established in either an Australian court or in a court in the country where the event occurred.
  • There are some scenarios where we would not be able to pay your claim, for example, if the event relates to the use of motor vehicles, legal costs resulting from criminal proceedings or injury to members of your immediate family.

Please read the Combined Financial Services Guide (FSG) and Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) including Policy Wording for a full list of what is and isn’t covered.

Who do you call?

If you become liable for an incident overseas, remember to stay calm. Our Worldwide Emergency Assistance Team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on +61 2 9191 1180.

If you’re calling from Australia, you can reach us Monday – Friday 8.30am to 5pm AEDT/AEST on 1800 196 484.
