We are terribly sorry to hear of the recent attacks in Brussels, our thoughts are with everyone affected by this event.

If you wish to know how this event affects your policy, please read below.

If you purchased your policy prior to Tuesday 22nd March 2016 6pm AEDT:

There is cover under Section 1.1 for medical expenses incurred during your journey in relation to the Brussels Terrorist Attacks on 22nd March 2016. We will reimburse you for actual and reasonable medical expenses incurred or we will confirm payment for a qualifying hospital claim, up to $100,000 per policy.

Please refer to ‘Section 1 – Medical & Evacuation’ (1.1) on page 12 of your policy wording.

There is no cover under any other sections of your policy for any expenses you may incur directly or indirectly as a result of the Brussels Terrorist Attacks, as acts of terrorism are a general exclusion of the policy (aside from cover as described above).

Please refer to ‘General Exclusions of this Policy Applying to All Sections’ (32) on page 12 of the policy wording.

There is also no cover for ‘Cancellation or Changes to Your Journey’ due to your disinclination to travel, your personal wishes or the disinclination to travel on the part of any other person upon whom your travel depends.

Please refer to ‘Losses We Do Not Cover Under Section 2’ (a) on page 13 of the policy wording.

If you wish to cancel your travel plans, please contact your service provider. Airlines, accommodation providers and tour companies may provide refunds, credit notes or alter your bookings without charging additional fees.

Please note, should a similar event take place in the future, there would be cover under Section 1.1 for medical expenses as described above, providing your policy was purchased prior to the event.

If you purchased your policy on or after Tuesday 22nd March 2016 6pm AEDT:

There is no cover under any sections of your policy for any expenses you may incur directly or indirectly as a result of the Brussels Terrorist Attacks, as acts of terrorism are a general exclusion of the policy.
