If you suffer from health issues, a holiday can be just what the doctor ordered. But it’s important to understand the implications of travelling with a medical condition and what you’re covered for should the unexpected happen.

A lot of people find it hard to understand what a pre-existing medical condition actually is and how it affects their travel insurance. In these three short videos, we answer a few of the common questions we get asked by customers travelling overseas with a medical condition.

What is a pre-existing condition?

When you buy a travel insurance policy you’ll be asked if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, but what are they? Our team look at what qualifies as a pre-existing condition.

How are they assessed?

You will be asked to complete our easy online medical assessment, which will determine if we can cover your pre-existing medical conditions. The results will be displayed to you before you decide to proceed with buying the policy.

If we’re able to offer cover for your pre-existing conditions, you will have to pay an additional premium. If you do not want cover for your pre-existing conditions, you can choose not to declare these during the application process and they will remain excluded under your policy.

Should I declare them?

Unsure about whether you need to declare your pre-existing conditions? Our experts outline your options so you can decide what's best for your journey.
