No excess on medical claims

From a doctor’s visit to a hefty hospital bill, we’ll cover the cost without charging any excess.

Travellers should be able to enjoy their trip safe in the knowledge that they’re covered if the unexpected happens. This is especially important for medical issues. Your health and wellbeing is always the top priority when travelling, that’s why it’s essential to take us with you.

What is travel insurance excess?

Whenever you make an insurance claim, you’re usually required to pay a fee known as excess. This amount is stipulated in your travel insurance policy wording.

Some claims – such as GP visits and prescription costs – amount to less than the excess, essentially making it not worth submitting a claim.

Paying excess can often dissuade travellers from claiming minor expenses. Knowing this, some people might be reluctant to seek medical treatment in the first place. The temptation is to delay treatment until they return home.

Obviously, this isn’t the best way to handle health issues.

Putting your health first

Southern Cross Travel Insurance does not charge excess for medical claims. Whether you have a minor illness or a medical emergency, there will be no excess to pay and our 24/7 Emergency Assistance team will ensure you get the best care available.

We don’t want to put anything in the way of you seeking the right treatment at the right time. We want to encourage travellers to address minor health ailments in order to prevent them from becoming bigger problems while overseas.

If in doubt, get it checked out

Medical setbacks are stressful enough at the best of times. When you’re stuck in a waiting room during your holiday with flights to catch and experiences to savour, anxiety levels will rise. We can help relieve some of the stress by covering you financially, recommending overseas hospitals and clinics, and even organising evacuation home if necessary.

We believe that every medical bill is worth claiming, no matter how big or small. It’s only fair. And we believe it’s the right thing to do to ensure you have a happy, healthy and hassle-free trip.
