Fiji Storm & Flooding

If you are currently overseas and your travel plans are
affected by the Fiji Storm & Flooding, and you purchased your
policy prior to Tuesday 24th January 2012 6am AEST:
There is provision to claim for actual and reasonable additional
costs for travel interruptions or travel delays;
- Please contact your travel agent, airline or tour company
in the first instance as they should be able to alter your travel
arrangements at no additional cost.
- We are happy to consider any actual and reasonable additional
costs incurred by you where they are not recoverable by any other
source.
- You will need to submit the following:
-
- all receipts for any additional expenses for
consideration;
- documents showing your original planned pre-paid arrangements,
as well as receipts and documents showing your changed
itineraries;
- documentation from your travel agent or airline stating what
they were able to offer you by way of compensation and
refunds.

- All claims will be subject to the relevant policy excess.
If your return to Australia is delayed or affected by the Fiji
Storm & Flooding, your policy will automatically extend until
you are able to return to Australia on the next available scheduled
transport. Customers do not need to contact us to organise
this extension.

Travel Interruptions
If, as a result of an Unexpected Event, Your travel is
interrupted for more than 36 hours, but You remain overseas on Your
Journey, We will pay for the actual and reasonable additional costs
of travelling on alternative Scheduled Transport to enable You to
catch up with Your Planned Journey. We will also pay for
either:
(a) Your actual and reasonable
additional costs for telephone calls, accommodation and meals;
or
(b) for the value of any unused prepaid
arrangements.
This reimbursement will be less any refunds or credits You are
eligible to receive, up to the limit specified in the schedule of
benefits.
Travel Delays
If the Scheduled Transport on which You have arranged to
travel during Your Journey is delayed for more than 12 hours beyond
the scheduled departure time, but not more than 36 hours, We will
reimburse You for either:
(a) Your actual and reasonable
additional travel, telephone calls, accommodation and meals which
are irrecoverable from any other source; or
(b) the value of any unused, prepaid non-refundable travel
arrangements.
The maximum amount We will pay is $1,000 per person up to a
maximum of $5,000 per policy.
If you have not yet departed Australia and your policy was
purchased prior to Tuesday 24th January 2012 6am AEST;
- If your travel plans are not directly affected by the Fiji
Storm & Flooding, SCTI would not consider a claim under Section
2, Cancellation or Postponement. It would be considered your
disinclination to travel and no cover would be provided if you
chose to cancel or postpone your travel plans.
- If your flight has been affected by the Fiji Storm &
Flooding, please contact your travel agent, airline or tour company
in the first instance as they should be able to alter your travel
arrangements at no additional cost.
- If your travel plans have been directly affected by the Fiji
Storm & Flooding and you are due to depart Australia, there is
provision to claim for Cancellation or Postponement costs that are
not recoverable from any other source. If you decide to
continue with your planned journey, there is no provision for
expenses incurred while on your journey due to the Fiji Storm &
Flooding as this will no longer be considered unexpected
- You will need to submit the following:

- all documents showing your original planned pre-paid
arrangements;
- receipts and documents showing your changed
itineraries;
- documentation from your travel agent or airline stating what
they were able to offer you by way of compensation and
refunds.
- All claims will be subject to the relevant policy excess.
For customers who purchased insurance from Tuesday 24th January
2012 6am AEST;
- There will be no cover for any expenses incurred relating
to the Fiji Storm & Flooding if your travel insurance was
purchased after the above time, as this situation is not considered
to be unexpected from Tuesday 24th January 2012 6am AEST.
This advice must be read in conjunction with the policy
wording.
