Medical treatment

There are some areas with less than ideal medical facilities, if you get seriously ill or injured. So if you’re an active traveller who loves tramping long distances or difficult terrain, please take care out there, and keep your travel insurance with you.

Be prepared and be aware

It’s easy to forget that South America has some dangerous regions so being prepared before you travel there is highly advisable. You should always check the smartraveller site, before you book and again before you depart. If the Government has issued a travel advisory “Do not travel”, or “Reconsider your need to travel” for a region, you may not be covered in those locations, and/or for events related to that travel warning. When in doubt, just ask us and we can advise you on your options and what parts of your travel insurance policy would still apply, if you chose to proceed with your travels.
